Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW Obalande unit in Mushin, Toba Ajiboye has been indicted as an accomplice in all forms of murderous act in Mushin Idi Oro area of Lagos and its environs.
This revelation came out when a notorious gangster Lanre Olowojobi (37yrs) from ‘Ipoti’ in Ekiti State was arrested by members of the Lagos Taskforce recently.
Lanre sang like a bird saying that since the fracas started back in January 29, 2010 he had killed with guns and injured several people with dangerous weapons.
He told investigators that dangerous weapons and arms used during the fracas are always kept with their group leader, Toba Ajiboye, the NURTW Boss.
The suspect is among 115 others arrested by the taskforce operatives during an overnight raid around Fadeyi, Akala and Idioro area of Mushin.
The raid was carried out on the order of the Taskforce Chairman SP Olayinka Egbeyemi for peace to reign in Mushin.
However 36 miscreants have been convicted by Magistrate Tosin Ojuromi following their arrest during the fracas between Alamutu and Akala-Elegba boys at Idi-oro, many people were killed and injured with properties worth several millions damaged.
Also illicit drugs recovered from the miscreants during the fracas estimated at millions of Naira have been destroyed by the Lagos State Government at the Olusosun dump site.
This is a follow-up to the successful prosecution of the suspects arrested in connection with the drugs around Mushin area of Lagos.
Following a directive from the Lagos State police boss Fatai Owoseni, the remaining suspects were arraigned before Magistrate Lateef Owolabi of the Lagos State Mobile Court at Oshodi with 3 counts charged of ‘Belonging to unlawful society, Conducts likely to cause Breach of Peace and Disorderly manner without visible means of livelihood’ all punishable under Sections 40 (1)(d), 168 (1)(d) and 116 (1)(a) of the Lagos State Criminal Laws.
Magistrate Lateef Owolabi sentenced them to one year imprisonment each with N70,000 as an option of fine after they all pleaded guilty to the 3 counts charged interpreted in different languages to them.
Meanwhile Lanre Olowojobi (a.k.a Pumpy) who made a volunteered confessional statements has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos for further investigations.
