The new Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bashir Makama has vowed that the State has become a no go area for any criminal activity.
Makama who officially took over from Ahmed Iliyassu as the new police commissioner in the state maintained that his leadership would have zero tolerance for crimes.
The new commissioner while speaking during the handing over ceremony held at headquarters police command Abeokuta, disclosed that the force would embark on fishing out criminals especially in all the borders across the state.
He maintained that his versatile knowledge about the terrain of the state would assist the police in combatting crimes.
He said, “I am new in Ogun, but, I am sure I am not new in the profession.
“Ogun State is a no go area for criminals. I have worked in Lagos, and I am fully conversant with the terrain of Ogun State.
“Change is constant and we would work to know how things now work in the state.”
The new police boss however assured that he would serve the people with credibility and fear of God.
He added, “We shall serve with credibility and fear of God. Transparency would be our watchword and my doors are always open.”
Meanwhile, Iliyassu in his remarks charged the new CP to work with everyone especially the management team to achieve a successful tenure.
He said, “What we met is peace and we have been able to achieve peace, we are also leaving peace behind.
“I can attribute my success in Ogun to the cooperation of the Area commanders, DCP and all Ogun people especially the PCRC and VSO.
“I also want to urge all the policemen in the state to cooperate with the new police, give him the maximum cooperation than you gave me.
“I am leaving behind this family, and I am happy we are leaving peace behind.”
