For the second time in 24 hours, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, failed to arraign a former chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ikeja Branch, Adesina Ogunlana for alleged stealing and money laundering.
Ogunlana has through his verified Facebook page announced that he would make himself available for trial.
He had earlier alleged witch hunt and gestapo style on the part of the anti-graft commission.
He claimed that despite the fact that he was not served the necessary court process, he on his own got the details and filed application for bail.
When the matter came up for hearing on Monday, Ogunlana was present in court but the EFCC was no where to be found.
Ogunlana claimed there was a ploy on the part of the commission to incarcerate him despite the fact that he is on the commission’s administrative bail.
He claimed that one of his co-defendant is still in the custody of the commission.
The presiding judge, Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court directed both parties to return to court when they are already.
At the court today, Ogunlana was present but EFCC prosecutor was not in court, the court was gracious enough to direct the court registrar to serve Ogunlana a copy of the charge against him from the court’s file while the EFCC representative in another matter denied any attempt to ambush Ogunlana.
Disappointed by the development Justice Dada directed both parties to come back to the court whenever they are ready.
