The Lagos State Government has ordered the indefinite closure of Dowen College, Lekki, over the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, a 12-year-old JSS 2 student of the school.
The boy was reported to have been beaten to death in the school for refusing to join a cult.
The closure is pending the outcome of an investigation into the death of the student.
In statement signed by Ganiu Lawal the Assistant Director, Public Affairs
Ministry of Education, the school was shut following a meeting by Commissioner for Education Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo with the school management and staff.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner has called for calm, saying no effort will be spared in getting to the root of the incident.
