The suspended Police officer, ASP Drambi Vandi, who was alleged to have murdered a-41 -year-old lawyer, Mrs. Omobolanle Raheem on the 25th of December, 2022 at Ajah has been remanded in prison custody on Friday.
Chief Magistrate C.A. Adedayo of the Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos remanded him for 30 days in line with the provision of the law pending further investigation by the Police.
The court also directed the Police to forward the duplicate case file to the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP, and adjourned the case to 30th of January, 2023 for the review of remand order and report on the legal advice by the DPP.
A-one count charge of murder has been brought against him, contrary to Section 223 of the Criminal Law Ch. C17 Vol. 3 Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Attorney-General of Lagos State, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo, SAN appeared at the Yaba Magistrate Court before Magistrate Adedayo for the remand proceedings of ASP Drambi Vandi.
The remand proceeding was filed pursuant to Section 264 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law 2015 (As amended).
The remand request had attached to it one count of nurder contrary to Section 223 of the Criminal Law Ch. C17 Vol. 3 Laws of Lagos State, 2015, an affidavit was deposed to by Ms. O.R. Saliu, an Assistant Director in the Ministry of Justice and the copy of the statement of the suspect ASP Drambi Vandi.
The Attorney-General appeared with Ms. Titilayo Shitta-Bey, the Solicitor General of Lagos State, Dr. Babajide Martins, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Adebayo Haroun, Deputy Director, Yetunde Cardoso, O/C Legal Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Command, and O.R. Saliu, Assistant Director while Moses Jah-Nissi appeared for ASP Drambi Vandi.
