Ex-Ikeja Branch Chairman of the Young Lawyers’ Forum, YLF, of the Nigerian Bar Association, Yusuf Temilola Nurudeen has been nominated as a member of the Nigerian Bar Association National Executive Committee, NBA-NEC.
In his new role, Mr. Yusuf Nurudeen will be working closely with the National Executive Committee and 150 distinguished members of the Bar including 38 learned Senior Advocates of Nigeria, SANs.
Nigerian Bar Association National Executive Committee, NBA-NEC, is the highest decision-making organ of the association.
Pursuant to Section 8(6) of the NBA Constitution 2015 (as amended in 2021) the National Executive Council, NEC, subject to the provisions of the Legal Practitioners Act and other provisions of the Constitution, posses powers to exercise control and management over the finances of the Association.
It is the duty of NBA-NEC to also appoints representatives to any Statutory, Executive/Judicial Commissions or other bodies with a view to expressing the positions of the Association upon any matters of public interest or upon any matters of general interest to the legal profession.
In addition, the apex body of the Bar also makes necessary arrangements for the Annual General Meeting, AGM through the association national secretariat amongst others.
The young lawyer who was previously the president of the students union of the prestigious Lagos State University, LASU, was privileged to have been considered for the role as one of the fifteen young lawyers due to sterling achievements as the former chairman, NBA Ikeja branch Young Lawyers’ Forum, YLF.
In his reaction to the nomination, Yusuf said: “With boundless gratitude for the confidence reposed in me by the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Yakubu Maikyau, OON, SAN, I undertake to give my best to the service of the Bar and seize this opportunity to adequately represent the Young Lawyers.”
