Not less than 104 prison inmates have been set free on the order of Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu. On Friday, the state government through the Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy, released 104 inmates from various correctional facilities across the State. This release, Lagos Attorney and Commissioner of Justice, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo SAN, said is in compliance with the provisions of Section 212 (1) (2) of the 1999 Constitution (amended) which empowers the Governor to exercise Prerogative of Mercy. Emmanuel Okorafor, 26, who has been defrauding POS operators of various sums of money has been arrested by the Rapid Response Squad on Thursday in Ojota area of Lagos. He confessed that he started the act just three weeks ago. According to the suspect, he normally gives POS operators a figure in seven, which the operator would enter into his POS (N52,000:00). A coalition of over 223 women organisations under the aegis of Womanifesto has demanded justice for the murder of 41-year-old Omobolanle Raheem, a member of the Nigerian Bar Association in Lagos by Assistant Superintendent of Police, Drambi Vandi.
