The operations also led to the recovery of 10 live cartridges and the discovery of a warehouse containing quantities of beverages suspected to be adulterated, according to the Command.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Yemi Oyeniyi, disclosed the operational breakthroughs in a statement issued by the Command on Sunday.

Suspected gun runner arrested, 10 cartridges recovered

In Agbor, operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit, SAKU, Ubulu-Uku, acting on credible intelligence, arrested 28-year-old Happiness Clifford over alleged involvement in gun-running activities.

A search of her suspected hideout in Ika South Local Government Area led to the recovery of 10 live cartridges concealed inside a bucket.

During preliminary investigations, the suspect allegedly identified her husband, Clifford Okoro, as a major supplier of the ammunition.

Police said efforts had been intensified to apprehend Okoro, while investigation into the alleged gun-running activities continued.

Police intercept suspected adulterated beverages in Warri

Meanwhile, in Warri, police operatives intercepted a Toyota Sienna allegedly conveying quantities of “Gbefun Hot Drink” suspected to be adulterated.

The interception occurred on August 17 during a stop-and-search operation along the Warri–Agbarho Expressway, leading to the arrest of the 44-year-old driver.

Further investigation reportedly took the operatives to a warehouse at Lower Ginuwa, Warri, where additional quantities of the suspected adulterated beverage and other drinks were recovered.

A Suzuki shuttle bus loaded with similar products was also recovered from the premises.

The suspected operators of the warehouse, however, reportedly fled after sighting the police.

The Command said efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects and determine the source and distribution network of the suspected adulterated beverages.

    Police intensify investigation

CP. Oyeniyi commended the operatives involved in the two operations and directed that investigations be pursued diligently to identify and apprehend all persons connected with the cases.

He also urged residents of Delta State to continue providing the Police with credible and timely information that could assist in preventing crime and protecting public safety.

The Command said the latest operations formed part of its ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal activities, prevent the circulation of illegal ammunition and protect residents from potentially harmful products.
