    Fleeing COVID-19 Patient Surrenders, Visits Centre With Family Members

    The COVID-19 patient, Emmanuel Ononiwu declared wanted by Abia State Government after he absconded from a holding facility in Aba is now in medical custody and currently at the isolation center in Amachara, a statement by Honorable Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu stated.

    Mr. Ononiwu reported with his family, including his wife, on Saturday morning at the Infectious Dsease Hospital (IDH), Aba, and has been moved by a State rapid response ambulance to the Abia State Specialist Hospital and Diagnostic Center, Amachara, Umuahia, for isolation and management

    The statement has it that samples will be collected from his wife and other family members for testing while active contract tracing will commence.

    “Meanwhile, three patients who are currently at the isolation center, including the 19 years old man from Afugiri, Umuahia, 30 years old man from Ofeme, Umuahia, and the Olokoro Umuahia returnee from Lagos who came for the burial planning of a relation who died in Kano are set to be released this morning after testing negative to the virus two consecutive times,” Kalu stated.
