The Commander of Intelligence Response Team of the Inspector General of Police, DCP Abba Kyari seems to have replied a suspected fraudster Afeez Mojeed who has accused the police officer of extortion in the sum of 41 million Naira in a fraud case of 94 million Naira, claiming to be a victim when Abba Kyari was in charge of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.
A statement credited to one, Hamza Nuhu shed more light on the relationship between the petitoner and SARS.
He claimed in the statement that Abba Kyari never had any direct relationship with the petitoner as claimed. He wondered why the petitoner has never taken any action in the past by reporting the alledge extortion or criminal act to appropriate authority.
As far as Nuhu is concerned the suspect is lying against his client. He said, “We are surprised the fraudster is mentioning Abba Kyari’s name like he gave him One kobo. “
“He has not given him one kobo and it’s on record that the respected officer have never collected money from any of his suspects despite the thousands of cases he has handled all these years.
“He wouldn’t have been who he is today if he is a cheap corrupt officer like this. He has no evidence of giving Abba Kyari one kobo. All lies from a criminal that was charged to court. Let him prove all the lies he is talking.”
The accusation against DCP Abba Kyari came after his accuser was discharged in a fraud case due to non-appearance of the complainant who was out of the country during trial.
He also revealed that, Kyari’s opposer was charged to court six years ago after he made written and video confessional statements to the police that he defrauded his victim the sum of 94 million Naira, bought an Honda Accord 2008 model car, a land worth seven million Naira (#7,000,000) and squandered the remaining 31 million Naira on hotels and his girlfriends.
The suspect was said to have submitted the car and land documents which were registered as exhibits before he was charged to court and after some years he was discharged but not acquitted from court, because the complainant was not coming to court.
Kyari said the land document and the car that were registered as exhibits are still kept with the exhibit keeper in Lagos.
The latest is that the suspect will be re-arrested and charge to court again as he was not acquitted by the court.
Additionally, the complainant has assured the Police that he is presently in Nigeria and ready to appear throughout court proceedings until his case is concluded, stating that “he will not leave his balance of 31 million Naira to the fraudster.”
