Scores of youths partying at a lounge located at the Bode Thomas area of Surulere, Lagos have been arrested by the police for violating the COVID-19 protocols in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command, CP Hakeem Odumosu personally led a team of Police officers and men to effect their arrests in tandem with COVID-19 enforcement protocols.
Information reaching CASEFILE has it that the police chief and his team stormed Lounge 38, Bode Thomas, Surulere and arrested scores clubbing at about 1a.m which was contrary to the state government COVID-19 orders.
The police boss’ team also arrested some for violating the 12 a.m to 4 a.m curfew at Maryland.
Odumosu has vowed to do everything possible within the ambit of the law to enforce the orders and halt the spread of the pandemic in the State.
In a related development, the Lagos State Government warned that law enforcement agents will continue to arrest and prosecute residents who violate COVID-19 guidelines and directives issued to curtail the spread of the deadly virus.
The government in an information from the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso stated that all those arrested will be prosecuted because the enforcement will continue across the State to stop the virus, which continues to kill.
According to the statement, residents are advised to avoid large gatherings and ensure strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines. The second wave of the pandemic has continued to spread faster among Lagosians with increased cases of patients being admitted at isolation centres.
COVID-19 is real. The second wave is deadlier and spreads faster. People should observe the practices of physical distancing; wearing of face masks; regular washing of hands and use of hand sanitisers always.
