Funke Busari, Lagos
Suspected armed robbers took to their heels on Sunday when some youths in the Igbo-Elerin community of Okokomaiko area in Lagos State prevented what could have become a robbery incident.
The youths involved in community policing repelled the suspects when they stormed the area in two unregistered bikes with the intention of attacking their targets.
But at about 11.30p.m that day, the youths resisted the robbery attack on the residents when they dislodged them before they rob the community.
One unregistered operational bike and one locally made pistol with a life cartridge were recovered from them.
This led Lagos State Police Command, CP Hakeem Odumosu to commend the youths of the area for engaging in Community Policing strategy of the Command.
He has further ordered for the manhunt and arrest of the fleeing armed robbers and encouraged Lagosians to embrace the idea of community-based policing which has paid off in many areas of the state.
