To deter further attacks on police personnel, the Lagos State Police boss, CP Hakeem Odumosu says it will resist persons who unleash terror on his officers carrying out lawful duties.
The CP served this warning on the heels of a recent attack on Woman Inspector Atim Umoh, on Tuesday, 2nd March, 2021 at about 11:30a.m by a suspect, Adeyemi Abayomi.
The incident happened when one Madam Nneka Regina of 103, Lagos Street, Ebute Metta, made a complaint at the police station in Surulere against the suspect, Adeyemi Abayomi of No 115, Itire Road, Surulere for illegally occupying a property and threatening life of the complainant, the police depolyed its officers to the compound.
The police woman who was in among the police operatives deployed to attend to the matter was injured.
The suspect, Mr. Adeyemi Abayomi allegedly unleashed his dogs on them. He was said to have released his dogs and ordered them to bite woman inspector Atim Umoh.
The officer was reported to have sustained bodily injuries as a result of the attack.
In a swift reaction, the Commissioner of Police, CP Odumosu ordered that the man be arrested and taken to the State CID for investigation, and prosecution, while his dogs be picked up by the police Dog Section (K-9) for further action.
He also ordered the police medical team of the command to monitor the treatment and health condition of the woman inspector who is presently recuperating.
