The Managing Director of Homeland and Overseas Limited, Osita Ojeah, has been declared wanted.
The Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja issued a bench warrant against him, his company and one Anthony Nwosu (still at large).
The presiding judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo revoked their bail following their inability to appear for trial in criminal charges instituted against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The defendants were arraigned by the EFCC since 2020 for allegedly stealing about N139 million (One Hundred and Thirty-nine Million Naira) from Virgin Forest Energy Limited.
Since the arraignment of Osita Ojeah, the company and one Anthony Nwosu (still at large), the matter has suffered several setbacks which has frustrated the commencement of trial.
The development made Justice Taiwo on March 10, 2021 served a note of warning that the court would not tolerate delay antics from counsel.
At the resumed hearing on Wednesday when the matter was called, neither the prosecutor nor defence counsel and defendants were in court to face trial.
Hence, Justice Taiwo revokes the defendant’s bail and adjourned till April 12.
