While many trooped to church for Good Friday celebration, two suspected child thieves invaded a church in Ijeja area of Abeokuta to steal children.
They invaded a Celestial Church of Christ, CCC, in Ijeja area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, but the vigilant congregants foiled their mission.
The two children, aged two and three, were in the children session enjoying the service while their parents joined the elderly in their session of the church, however, these kidnappers invaded their midst and were making away with the children before a divine intervention.
A statement from the Ogun State Police Command stated that they had successfully picked two of the children, and were on their way out when one of the congregants noticed the awful development and raised an alarm that attracted other members of the church.
Members of the church trooped out and chased them but succeeded in arresting only one of them identified as 35-year-old Sakiru Famuyiwa.
According to the State Police Command Spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, a distress call was thereafter made to the Ibara Police Division following which the DPO, CSP Nasirudeen Oyedele, led his operatives to the scene and saved the suspect from the mob, who were on the verge of lynching him.
