On Sunday, April 24, 2022 the Special squad in charge of cult-related activities in Ogun State clamped down on some suspected cultists and made some arrest.
The latest was the bursting into a renewed supremacy battle between “Aiye” and Eiye” groups.
The SWAT operatives, led by its Commander, CSP Kalejaye Olanrewaju arrested two suspected members of the “Aiye” confraternity..
The suspects, Habeeb Muideen (aka Oko eight) and one other, simply identified as Ibrahim (aka Ayin).
According to the Ogun State Command Spokeperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, they are currently undergoing interrogation at SWAT office, to determine their roles in the clash.
So far, 37 members of various cult groups have been arrested by the command in the last one month it began its clamp down operations of cultists across the state.
Giving further details of the Operations, the suspects were arrested following a distress call received by SWAT operatives that Aiye cult group was entangled in a supremacy battle with its arch rival, Eiye, at Elega/Iberekodo axis of Abeokuta metropolis.
“Upon the distress call, the CSP Kalejaye Olanrewaju-led SWAT operatives swung into action and raced to the scene, only for the warring cultists to scamper in different directions on sighting them.
DSP Oyeyemi said the operatives gave them a hot chase and succeeded in arresting one of them.
He further stated that, while Habeeb was pick up at Iberekodo, Ibrahim was caught up with at Ajitadun area of the metropolis, adding that battle axes and assaulted charms were recovered from the suspects.
