Alleged fake Army General, Bolarinwa Oluwasegun Abiodun was in court today for his trial bothering on alleged fraud, but his matter could not go on due to the absence of his counsel.
He is on trial on a 13-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence, forgery of documents, and possession of documents containing false pretence involving an alleged N266,500,000 fraud.
But when the matter came up for hearing, the defendant told Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Special Offences Court about the absence of his lawyer.
According to him, his lawyer called him this morning informing him of his health condition.
But the prosecution team is not happy with the development as they wondered why the counsel, Mr. Kayode Lawal did not inform them earlier despite having their contact details.
Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo representing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission told the judge that the team was ready to proceed with the trial as ordered by the court stating that there were two prosecution witnesses in court to testify.
