The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has finally cleared Abia State Governorship aspirant, Barrister Etigwe Uwa, SAN, to run in the primary of the party in the state.
The decision was taken on Wednesday after a meeting of the National Working Committee to consider the outcome of the Presidential/Governorship Screening Appeal Panel pursuant to Article 17(2) of the APGA Electoral Guidelines for 2022 Primary Election.
A statement by the Administrative Secretary of the party, Mrs. Nwabueze Ugomma A. said, “The final list comprising of all Governorship aspirants will be published shortly before the Governorship primary election.”
Recall that Etigwe Uwa, SAN, had protested his disqualification from the Governorship primary by the state screening committee on the grounds that,”he was not a member of APGA.
The Governorship aspirant who filed an appeal against the decision said his disqualification may not be unconnected with several approaches from different quarters requesting that he steps down in turn for an automatic senate ticket.
Etigwe in a statement said, “I was approached severally and requested to step down in return for an automatic senate ticket. I turned it down on all occasions. I am undeterred and would fight it to its logical conclusion.”
Other governrship aspirants cleared along side Barrister Etigwe Uwa, SAN, by APGA’s NWC are; Nwegbo Uche from Enugu State, Ombugaku, Matthew Avre from Nasarawa State, Adeshina Adewale from Oyo State, Abashe Samuel Nankpak from Plateau State and Usman Lawal from Zamfara State.
