The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, PSC, Alhaji Musiliu Smith has resigned his appointment.
Sources said his resignation followed the incessant face off between the PSC and the Alkali Baba-led Police over who recruits new personnel into the Force.
Alhaji Musiliu Smith was a former Inspector General of and was yanked off the office during the Chief Olesegun Obasanjo’s administration. Though he has yet to tender his resignation but a source close to the former chairman said the letter was ready and would be handed over during an emergency plenary that would take place tomorrow.
He is expected to hand over to Retired Justice Clara Ogunbiyi, who is representing the judiciary at the commission.
Smith’s resignation was confirmed by Head, Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani saying a statement to that effect would be issued.
