Professor Zainab Duke Abiola, a human rights activist, has been docked on Friday before Chief Magistrate Elizabeth Jones-Wonniat sitting at the Wuse Magistrates Court Zone 6, Abuja for alledged assault of Inspector Teju Moses, an officer of tehe Nigeria Police Force,
The defendant was alledged to have ordered her domestic staff to assault her Police Orderly, Woman Inspector, Teju Moses.
The court did not grant the defendant’s bail, and she was remanded in Suleja prison till 5th of October 2022.
Magistrate Jones-Wonniat explained that she relied on Section 229 of the Penal Code which gives jurisdiction to the Chief Magistrate to handle the case of culpable homicide to the bail application.
