INEC Boss Meets Line Editors, Assures Of Transparent Polls In 2023

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu is currently meeting line editors in Lagos, intimating them about the plan to ensure transparent and credible polls next year.

The purpose is to intimate them about the importance of Bimodal Verification Accreditation System, BIVAS, and electronically driven exercise.

During the question and answer session he assured that those who had their card burnt during the attack on INEC offices will have the opportunity of voting since arrangement is in place to reprint.

On the poor network, he added that INEC is partnering with Nigerian Communications Commission to address the issues.

He said the Commission will continue to respect the decision of the court in case of any litigation that may arise

On the electoral offenders arrested, he said arrest and prosecution lies with police and the judiciary.

He hopes that electoral offences tribunal recommended would be established to address this.
