The Lagos State Police Commissioner, CP Abiodun Alabi has been urged to grant a bereaved woman on bail.
The woman, Mrs. Comfort Ebele Martins according to her lawyer, Odiana Eriata lost her daughter, Abimbola Ogbonna in a mysterious circumstances through a fire incident.
The prime suspect, Ikechukwu Ogbonna was arrested and charged to a Magistrate Court for a lesser offence of negligence instead of murder before a Magistrate court in Oyingbo.
Now, the family through Odiana Eriata raised an alarm that base on the petition from the said Ogbonna, Mrs. Comfort was arrested and detained.
Describing the Police action as a form of harassment, Mr. Eriata want the Police to release her on adminstrative bail.
The counsel reminded the Police that a Coroner has been set up and scheduled to sit in Epe on January 7, 2023.
“We are appealing to you to use your good office to direct immediate release of the mother of the deceased and other family members detained by the police.”
“We request you to stop further arrest, intimidation and harassment of mother of deceased and the entire family.”
“We also humbly request you to direct the formations to desist from harassing, intimidating and arresting the deceased family until the resolutions of the issues before the court and or any other ancillary issues relating to the death of late Abimbola Ogbonna.”
When CASEFILE contacted the Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, SP. Benjamin Hundeyin on the allegation on Friday, he said he is not aware.
