Multiple accident at Kara bridge along Lagos Ibadan expressway has resulted into the death of one person, while many were injured on Thursday morning.
Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, says the accident occured as a result of a brake failure from a Mack truck.
The accident according to Route Commander Olabisi Sonusi, the Public Education Officer of FRSC, Lagos involved seven vehicles.
Sonusi disclosed that following the death of a person in the accident, his corpse has been taken by the Kara Hausa community for burial according to Islamic rites while the injured persons were taken to Accident and Emergency at Ojota.
The vehicles involved in the accident are a Gold Toyota Sienna Bus with registration number RSH492XE, a Custom Toyota Camry car, with the registration number MUS479HE, a White Toyota Hiace Bus with registration number FGG685XV, a Black Lexus SUV with registration number FST907HK.
Others are a White Lexus SUV with registration number FST904HK, an unknown Black Toyota Land Cruiser and an unknown White Mack truck.
FRSC operatives in conjunction with men of Nigeria Police and Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps in Ogun, TRACE, operatives, cleared the obstructions off the road.
FRSC personnel are still on ground managing the backlog of traffic caused.
The Sector Commander Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the bereaved and wishes the injured victims speedy recovery.
He however said the Corps will continue to ensure that minimum safety standards are maintained by articulated vehicles, while the cause of the crash will be thoroughly investigated for further action.
