    Chrisland School Docked Over The Death Of Its Student, Whitney Adeniran

    The management of Chrisland School Limited and four staff have been arraigned for alleged involuntary manslaughter.

    The Lagos State Ministry of Justice dragged the defendants; Ademoye Adewale, Kuku Fatai, Mrs. Belinda Amao, Nwatu Ugochi Victoria, and Chrisland School Limited before Justice Oyindamola Ogala of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja.

    It accused them of alledged involuntary manslaughter and reckless and negligent acts over the death of one of its students, 12-year-old Omodesola Whitney Adeniran.

    The defendants pleaded not guilty on Thursday to the two-count charge brought against them by the Lagos State Government.

    According to the charge information prepared by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Dr. Babajide Martins, on February 9, 2023 at about 1:00pm, in Agege Sports Stadium, Agege, Lagos in the Ikeja Judicial Division killed one Adeniran Omodesola Whitney by acting in a reckless and negligent manner that endangered her life.

    Addressing the court, the Attorney General, Moyosore Onigbanjo, SAN, informed the court that the State filed two count charges against the defendants, urging the court to take their plea.

    All defendants however pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against them.

    The Attorney General informed the court that the state has 17 witnesses, and as such would be praying for a date to open trial.

    The application filed by the defence counsel were not opposed by the prosecution counsel.

    Justice Ogala, later adjourned trial for May 25, June 1, 8, and 15 for trial to begin.

    Meanwhile, the judge would soon rule on their bail applications.
