Lagos Governor-elect who is the All Progressive Candidate, APC, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat are not qualified to contest the election and ought to have been disqualified.
This is the thrust of the petition filed by the Labour Party, LP, candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.
In his petition dated April 9, 2023 marked EPT/LAG/GOV/04/2023, Gbadebo claimed that the Governor, who is the second respondent was at the time of the election, not qualified to contest the election into the office of the Governor held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 conducted by Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
He added that the electoral victory of Sanwo-Olu was invalid by reason of corrupt practices or non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 and Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999.
The Petitioner claimed that the second respondent was not duly elected by majority of the lawful votes cast at the Election.
