Twenty five barracks in Lagos have been marked for demolition and renovation by the order of the Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba.
This is according to a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference, Adejobi said that the Police is also partnering with the Lagos State Government in a bid to enhance the overall welfare of Police personnel serving in the state.
The police spokesperson added that the initiative by the Police boss is timely as it is fundamental to addressing the longstanding issue of poor and dilapidated infrastructures within facilities occupied by Police personnel.
He however promised legitimate occupiers of palliative during the period covered by the renovation as well as an assurance that legal occupier will have their allocation returned to them upon completion.
Affected barracks include the following;
i. Ijeh Police Barracks, Obalende
ii. Highway Police Barracks, Ikeja
iii. K9 Police Barracks, Keffi Street, South-West, Ikoyi
iv. Falomo Police Barracks (A and B), Ikoyi
v. Bar Beach Police Barracks, Victoria Island
vi. MOPOL 20 Barracks, Ikeja
vii. Women Police Barracks, Obalende
viii. MOPOL 2 Police Barracks, Keffi Street, South-West, Ikoyi
ix. Mounted Troop, Ribadu Road, Ikoyi
x. Queen Barracks, Apapa
xi. FPRO Annex Office and Barracks, Ijora Olopa
xii. Iponrin Police Barracks, Surulere
