    Court Sentences Owner Of Hilton Hotel To Death Over Death Of Lodger

    Osun State High Court judge, Justice Oyebola Ojo, has sentenced Dr. Rahman Adedoyin, to death by hanging.

    Sentenced to death alongside the convict are Adeniyi Aderogba, and Oyetunde Kazeem.

    The State Chief judge handed down the judgement to the owner of Hilton Hotel Ile-Ile, Osun State, on Tuesday having found him culpable  of murder of Timothy Adegoke, a postgraduate student of Obafemi Awolowo University. Also, the court declared the son of Dr. Adedoyin, Raheem wanted. 

    Dr. Adedoyin was found guilty on counts 1, 2, 3, 7, 8,9, and 11. The court adjourned till Wednesday the sentencing on Adedeji Adesola.

    However, the court discharged Magdalene Chiefuna, Oluwole Lawrence, and Adebayo Kunle.

    The court also ordered forfeiture of the hotel facility and the Hilux bus that was used to convey the deceased to the dumping ground.

    The court further ordered Adedoyin to pay the school fee of the two children of the deceased from the proceed of the estate of the culprits.

    Dr. Adedoyin and six staff have been standing trial since Adegoke was killed in Adedoyin’s hotel in 2021.

    Those who stood trial, were Adedoyin and six workers; Magdalene Chiefuna, Adeniyi Aderogba, Oluwole Lawrence, Oyetunde Kazeem, Adebayo Kunle and Adedeji Adesola. 

    Recall that Adegoke was declared missing and his body was later found in a shallow grave along old Ede road in the town by police before Adedoyin and his workers were docked on 18 counts charge bordering on conspiracy, murder and oath of secrecy, among others.
