An unspecified amount of goods and properties have been lost to a fire outbreak at a warehouse storing diapers, solar batteries, foreign charcoal, and massaging seats within the Josien factory complex in Abule-Osun area of Lagos on Friday morning.
However, no casualties, nor injuries were recorded as there were no occupants in the building as of the time of the fire incident.
This incident was communicated in a statement by Nosa Okunbor, Head, Public Affairs Unit, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA.
A preliminary report indicates that the immediate cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, as the warehouse was locked at the time the incident occurred.
Fortunately, a significant quantity of goods equally worth millions of naira were salvaged by the LASEMA Response Team during the operation.
According to LASEMA Spokesperson, the agency received distress calls through the 767/112 Toll-Free Emergency lines at 0828hours which was acted upon by the Dolphin Response Team from the Igando Base.
Report further has it that the strategic, collaborative efforts were deployed to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjacent warehouses.
While safety measures were activated by all members of the multi-agency response teams to ensure safety of responders at the incident scene during the operation.
Other agencies were also said to have responded to the incident, Okunbor stated that the LRT coordinated the operation in collaboration with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue officials, agencies present during the mission are; the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Federal Fire Service and the Nigerian Police Force.
