    Lagos Justice Ministry, Ready For Strategic Meeting With Key Stakeholders

    All is now set for the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, MOJ, strategic management meeting with key stakeholders from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, MDAs. 

    The two-day meeting is scheduled to be held October 23-24, 2024, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Isaac John Street, GRA Ikeja, Lagos.

    The Ministry’s Director, Public Affairs, Mrs. Grace Alo on Sunday stated that the meeting is being organised to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and improve the enforcement of laws in Lagos State.

    She informed further that the meeting is to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and improve the enforcement of laws in the State.

    Key stakeholders from the Nigerian Police, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the Nigerian Correctional Service, and other agencies will be present to discuss ongoing challenges in law enforcement and prosecution.

    Order of activities for the first day will be an opening ceremony by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, with remarks from the State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

    Alo noted further, “The main sessions will focus on Law Enforcement and the Administration of Criminal Justice, with keynote speaker Justice Mojisola Olatoregun (Rtd.), and discussants including the Director of Public Prosecutions, Chairman of EFCC, Chairman of ICPC, AIG Zone 2 Lagos, and the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service.

    “The second day will include sessions focused on the Lands and Environment Family, with participation from the Lands Bureau, NTDA, LASEPA, and other agencies. Discussions will centre on the harmonisation of MDA operations to improve service delivery and reduce government liability exposure in land administration and environmental management. A dedicated session will also address Chieftaincy Matters and the future of Local Government Administration in Lagos State, with the Oba of Lagos or his representative delivering the keynote address.

    “The Lagos State Attorney General, Mr. Lawal Pedro SAN, will also use this opportunity to engage with senior officials of the Ministry and review its performance over the past year.”

    Ahead of the event, the Attorney General, Mr. Pedro noted: “This meeting is critical for further aligning our objectives with the T.H.E.M.E.S PLUS AGENDA of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, to improve on how we enforce and prosecute cases across sectors. We aim to develop actionable strategies that will drive more efficient legal processes and ensure that all enforcement actions are properly coordinated.”

    “The press is invited to a media briefing scheduled for October 21, 2024, at 10:00 AM, at the Ministry of Justice Conference Room, Alausa, Ikeja. The briefing will highlight the Ministry’s achievements over the past year and provide an overview of the objectives and expected outcomes of the Strategic Management Meeting.”
