The National Association of Judiciary Correspondents, NAJUC, Ikeja Branch, has ushered in a new era of leadership following the successful election and swearing-in of new executive officers who will steer the affairs of the association for the next two years.


The official inauguration ceremony took place on Thursday at the NAJUC Press Centre, located within the premises of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja. The event attracted members of the press, judiciary correspondents, and invited guests who gathered to witness the transition of leadership.

Mr. Azeez Folorunso of Rulers’ World Magazine and Online was elected as Chairman, while Mrs. Adenike Ayodele of the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, emerged as the General Secretary.
Mr. Stephen Aya of ThisDay newspaper was also elected as Treasurer. All three candidates were elected unopposed, a move described by stakeholders as a sign of unity and confidence within the association.
The oath of office was administered by a respected legal practitioner, Mr. Wahab Abdullahi, who charged the new executives to uphold the principles of justice, fairness, and accountability in their leadership.
“I charge you all to lead with integrity, remain committed to the ethics of the profession, and be the bridge between the judiciary and the public,” Abdullahi said while addressing the new officers.
NAJUC chairman’s acceptance speech
In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman, Azeez Folorunso, expressed gratitude to members of the association for the trust reposed in him and his team.
“We are honoured by this responsibility, and we will not let you down.
“Our focus will be on transparency, unity, and capacity building as we intend to make NAJUC Ikeja more vibrant and responsive to members’ needs,” he said.

The newly elected General Secretary Adenike Ayodele also echoed similar sentiments, promising to ensure efficient coordination of the association’s activities.
“We will work hand in hand to uphold the constitution of NAJUC and protect the collective interests of judiciary correspondents,” she affirmed.
The election was conducted during the association’s Annual General Meeting, AGM, which was presided over by Mrs. Kemi Fola-Adeyemo of TVC, who served as Chairperson of the Caretaker Committee. She praised the peaceful and democratic process that led to the emergence of the new executives.
“The smooth and uncontested nature of this election is a testament to the unity and maturity of our members,” Fola-Adeyemo remarked.
“We believe this new leadership will move NAJUC Ikeja to greater heights,” she said.
The newly elected officers pledged to diligently execute the responsibilities of their offices and to uphold, protect, and defend the constitution and laws of the NAJUC Ikeja Chapter as they begin their tenure.
