Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe of a Lagos State Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court, Ikeja, has sentenced a-One-Chance driver, Valentino Andrew to 12 years imprisonment for an amended three-count charge.

Delivering the judgement, the court sentenced the defendant after he agreed to a plea bargain to the amended three-count charges of stealing, felony and demand by force.
Defendant admits One-Chance operation
The convict was initially arraigned before the trial judge for armed robbery along with two others; Michael Idoko and Tony Onwoluwe, alleged to have participated in a-One-Chance operation.
They defendants had pleaded not guilty to the three charges during their arraignment.
One of the defendants, Valentino was subsequently re-arraigned and he pleaded guilty to the amended three-count charges.
Justice Abike-Fadipe asked the defendant if he opted for a plea bargain due to threat, force or a promise of anything and he replied that he voluntarily changed his plea to guilty.
The trial judge held that the court is not bound to the agreement terms of the plea bargain.
The convict committed the offence in 2020 operating between Lekki-Epe to Iyana- Oworo of Lagos State.
The offences contravene Sections 406, 301, 287 of the Laws of Lagos 2015.
Hence, the court sentenced him to 12 years on count one to three.
The sentencing will commence from June, 2020.
Justice Abike-Fadipe further said that the judgement was given and ordered that his full name should be entered into the State Sexual Offences register.
The State Prosecution Counsel, Adebanke Ogunde asked for a continuation of trial date for the second and third defendants.
Justice Abike-Fadipe further adjourned the case of the remaining two defendants till October 7, 2025 for the continuation of trial.
