The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that world-renowned boxer, Anthony Joshua, was involved in a road accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, on Monday.

According to the police, the Lexus SUV conveying the boxer was involved in the accident that occurred around 11:00am at Makun, near Danco Filling Station, close to the Sagamu Interchange on the Ibadan-bound axis.
The British Nigerian boxer, Anthony Joshua, who was seated at the rear of the vehicle, sustained minor injuries and is receiving medical attention.
Two other passengers lost their lives at the scene of the accident.
Ogun Police confirm fatalities
Giving further update on the incident, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police command disclosed that the deceased victims of the crash have been deposited at the Livewell Hospital Morgue in Sagamu.

In the meantime, the Ogun State Police Command expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and assured members of the public that a thorough investigation has commenced to determine the exact cause of the accident.
FRSC gives preliminary findings
Meanwhile the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ogun Sector Command, also confirmed the accident in a separate report.
According to the FRSC, the crash involved two vehicles along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at Sinoma axis, Sagamu.
FRSC, stated that five people were involved in the crash, with two fatalities, one injured person, and two others unhurt.
The report also confirmed that Anthony Joshua sustained injuries and was taken to an undisclosed hospital by security personnel attached to him.
The corps attributed the crash to overspeeding and wrongful overtaking, which led to a collision with a stationary vehicle.
Obstructions caused by the accident have since been cleared.

Both the police and the FRSC have confirmed that investigations into the Anthony Joshua accident are ongoing, with further updates to be communicated as more facts emerge.
