The last may have not been heard about a case of alleged negligence of a female school teacher, Ambassador Rukayat Tobiloba, who in a trending video said the court wants to jail her for defilement.

The latest is that the case is still pending in court and awaiting review of legal advice from the office of the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Lawal Pedro to institute a comprehensive review of the above case in making sure to use law as an instrument to liberate the innocent soul and not to be punished for the offences she did not commit or know nothing about.
This is as her former employer, Great Kezino Schools, Ikorodu Lagos, made some clarifications following her video circulating on social and traditional media.
The school through Mrs.Toyin Edaolaropin, Head Teacher of Great Kezino Nursery and Primary School in a reaction told CASEFILE that following series of investigations, Mrs Rukayat Tobiloba, and Mrs. Rukayat Lawal were arraigned for negligence.
Clarifying further, “Contrary to Mrs Tobiloba’s several defamatory stories on both social and conventional media, the school stood firmly and promptly in her support right from the very beginning of her ordeal. As soon as the case began, the school hired a very competent lawyer who secured her bail promptly to ensure that she doesn’t get remanded in the prison. Staff of the school who never knew her from anywhere never thought twice of the costly implication of standing as her guarantors. Let me quickly bring to your attention that Mrs. Tobiloba has barely worked with us for two months when this ugly incident took place and that she absconded from work barely another two weeks, after we came back from the Police headquarters. She left our service for a neighboring school. We didn’t stop our support for her because of this, but rather we spent so much in litigation cost in her defense for almost four years because we know for sure that nothing happened to Victim A in the custody of the school. Each court day, the school took care of her feeding, transportation, and general wellbeing. She was never alone even as at least four persons always go to court with her at the expense of the school.
“After one year on litigation, the court, in its wisdom discharged the assistance class teacher. During the period, our lawyer also wrote to the DPP to review the report indicting her. She also facilitated a committee hearing of the Lagos State House of Assembly on the same matter, with the view to review the DPP report to ensure that she was not unduly punished.
“As the case continued, she doesn’t always want to go to court, we have to be begging and pleading as if she was doing us a favor. She last appeared in court on the 10th of November 2023, after which the case was adjourned to 5th of March 2024. On the 21st February, 2024, she informed me that she was pregnant, we informed the court who adjourned her case to 5th August 2024, which I communicated to her.
“On the 22nd July 2024, I called to remind her of the coming court hearing. Amazingly, she blatantly conveyed her loss of interest in the case, in a message sent to me. She said she has relocated to Ibadan and will not be available for any court case henceforth. Our lawyer still tried to get another adjournment for the 5th of February 2025, which was also communicated to her, from that moment she refused to communicate with us, as she never responded to calls and messages.
“The court, unfortunately has to issue her arrest warrant. She was thereafter arrested and remanded in Kirikiri correctional center on the 10th of March 2025 having jumped bail for several months. After her arrest she said she was not interested in the services of our lawyer anymore. She introduced another lawyer to the court and our lawyer has to officially address the court in her exit of the case. At this point the school has no other option than to leave the case for her to handle in her best approach.
“Consequently, the school knew nothing more about the case until now that she has gone to the media to tarnish the image of the school in an attempt to garner sentiment to herself. Further enquiries should be directed to our competent lawyer. Thanks for your understanding.”
