The Delta State Police Command has arrested four suspected cultists, recovered firearms and illicit drugs during a coordinated operations across the state.

The Command said the arrests is as a result of sustained crackdown on cultism and violent crimes, noting that operatives acted on credible intelligence to disrupt criminal networks.
Weapons recovered from suspect
In one of the operations, operatives of Delta Shield, while on surveillance patrol in Orerokpe, Okpe Local Government Area, intercepted a 32-year-old suspect, Peter Onajite.
A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of a locally made double-barrel cut-to-size pistol, two live cartridges, one expended cartridge, and sachets of suspected Tramadol.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP. Bright Edafe stated that during preliminary investigation, the suspect reportedly confessed to being the leader of the Juris Confraternity.
He remains in custody as investigations continue.
Police foil cult initiation in Ibusa
In a related development, the operatives arrest extended to Ibusa, where officers foiled a suspected cult initiation.
Acting on a report, operatives attached to Ibusa Police Station stormed Jordan Road and arrested three suspects, including a female, while one suspect, identified as Chinedu Onyeama, remains at large.
Items recovered at the scene include an English-made Beretta pistol with one round of live ammunition, three battle axes, one hammer, one cutlass, and thirty-nine firelighters.
Police authorities confirmed that efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect.
CP commends operatives, vows crackdown
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, CP. Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for their professionalism and swift response.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, warning that security agencies will continue to clamp down on cult-related activities and other violent crimes across the state.
