Residents of Ikorodu may soon experience improved security following the inauguration of Command Sweepers Squad by the CP Tijani Fatai-led Lagos State Police Command.

The new intervention unit is a special tactical security outfit aimed at tackling rising criminal activities across the axis.
The security outfit is created in response to growing concerns and complaints by residents over insecurity, violent crimes and activities of criminal gangs in parts of Ikorodu and adjoining communities.
Communicating the development on Monday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP. Abimbola Adebisi stated that the Command Sweepers Squad, was inaugurated under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai.
The Command Sweepers Squad is a temporary intervention security outfit created to address the growing incidents of crimes and criminality within Ikorodu and adjoining areas, comprises officers drawn from Command Tactical Teams, Rapid Response Squad, Eko Strike Force, 2 Police Mobile Force, 22 PMF, and 63 PMF of the Lagos State Police Command, alongside personnel from other sister security agencies and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, all working collaboratively to combat criminality within Ikorodu and its environs.
The statement further stated, “The Squad is strategically situated in Ijede to ensure swift deployment and easy access to all parts of Ikorodu and adjoining communities for effective crime prevention and rapid response operations.
Adding that, “To further strengthen operational effectiveness, the Squad has also been equipped with operational resources, including patrol vehicles and three (3) Armoured Personnel Carriers recently presented to the Lagos State Police Command by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF.
The Spokesperson hinted that the Squad has been strategically deployed to identified black spots and criminal hideouts to carry out intelligence-led operations, raids, stop-and-search duties, and confidence-building patrols aimed at flushing out criminal elements and ensuring the safety of lives and property.
