Wema Bank has unveiled a series of new initiatives aimed at rewarding, educating and empowering Nigerian children through its Royal Kiddies account and ALAT Xplore platform as part of activities marking the 2026 Children’s Day.

The announcement was made during Bank’s Children’s Day Special Event held on Monday, May 25, 2026, where Wema Bank’s One-Day Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Chinmamanda Diamond Ozoakpata, unveiled the initiatives as her first official act in office.
The bank stated, “At Wema Bank, we have spent the last few years reimagining what Children’s Day can look like for Nigerian children.
One-Day MD/CEO unveils Children’s Day gifts initiative
Among the newly introduced incentives is a year-long birthday cash reward scheme for active Royal Kiddies account holders. Under the initiative, children turning five years old between May 2026 and May 2027 will receive ₦5,000, while those turning 10 will receive ₦10,000 automatically as birthday gifts.
The bank also disclosed that eligible account holders who already celebrated their fifth or 10th birthdays before May 2026 would receive their rewards this month.
₦100,000 Reward for Top Common Entrance Students (Royal Kiddies Account Holders)
In another initiative, Wema Bank said it would reward the top 100 students in the National Common Entrance Examination, NCEE, with ₦100,000 each beginning from June 2026.
To qualify, beneficiaries must rank among the top 100 performers in the examination and maintain an active Royal Kiddies account with the bank.
Financial literacy book launch – Money adventures (Royal Kiddies Account Holders)

The financial institution also launched Money Adventures, a financial literacy book targeted at children aged six and above.
The publication is designed to simplify conversations around saving, money management and responsible financial habits for young readers in an engaging and age-appropriate format.
According to the bank, copies of the book will be made available to children with active or newly activated Royal Kiddies accounts.
Evolve School Tour STEM Challenge (ALAT Xplore Account Holders)
For teenagers, the bank unveiled the Evolve School Tour STEM Challenge through its ALAT Xplore platform. The programme, targeted at secondary school students aged 13 to 17, will run across six schools nationwide with established STEM programmes.
The initiative will feature practical STEM competitions, school engagements and financial literacy sessions aimed at promoting innovation, technology awareness and responsible savings culture among students. Winners will also receive monetary prizes.
To participate, students must be ALAT Xplore customers within the specified age bracket and enrolled in participating schools.
Wema Bank noted that over the last four years, it has consistently transformed Children’s Day celebrations into platforms for leadership development, educational support and financial literacy campaigns for children.
The bank added that this year’s programme marks its most comprehensive Children’s Day package yet, being the first to run for an entire year while combining academic rewards, financial education resources and nationwide school engagement initiatives.
According to the bank, the initiatives are designed to create lasting impact on children beyond the annual celebration and reinforce the institution’s commitment to supporting the next generation of Nigerian leaders.
