Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Lagos State Special Offences Court, Ikeja, has ordered the remand of a man, Isreal Ifeanyi, in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Ikoyi, following his arraignment for the alleged defilement of a one-year-old girl.

    Alleged Defilement

The defendant was arraigned on Monday in suit number ID/24073C/24 on a one-count charge filed by the Lagos State Government.

    He however pleaded not guilty.

According to the charge read by the court registrar, the defendant allegedly committed the offence in November 2022 at No. 10 Camberwall Estate, Abijo G.R.A., within the Lagos Judicial Division, by having unlawful sexual intercourse with the female child.

The prosecution stated that the alleged offence contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.

Victor Amaechi appeared as the defence counsel representing the defendant.

Following the plea, Justice Oshodi adjourned the matter to January 21, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
