The loss of lives in the first two days of the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protest has been generating some controversy. But the Nigeria Police Force has come out to say only seven lives were lost as against a recent report credited to Amnesty International, a global human rights organisation. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will address the nation in a broadcast on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 7:00 am. A statement signed by his Special Adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, advised television, radio, and other electronic media outlets to tune in to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, for the broadcast. A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, who is also a legal adviser to one of the protesting groups of the #EndBadGovernance protest has appealed to the protesting masses to sheath their sword. The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has taken action against Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited and Nigerian Bottling Company Limited for violating consumer rights. The commission disclosed this in a statement on Friday. CLEEN Foundation has advocated for a functional parole system for inmates, to decongest the already overcrowded custodial centres in Nigeria, otherwise known as Nigerian Correctional Services, NcoS.  The parole system provides that inmates who have served non-parole period of 15 years of jail terms could be released for gradual rehabilitation and reintegration into the society on certain conditions. The Police in Lagos State have foiled an attack in the state following the discovery of Improvised Explosive Device, IED. Sources close to the Lagos State Police Command revealed that the Police detonated the lethal weapon.
