The Police in Lagos have arrested 32-year-old man, Sunday Ukeme, accused of defiling his neighbour’s daughter in the Lekki area of the state.

He blamed alcohol for his action.
The suspect was said to have sexually abused a girl names withheld who was left in the care of his wife when the mother of the victim travelled for three weeks.
Trouble started for the married man as soon as his wife Mary Sunday left for a vigil service in the church and he alledgely took advantage of the minor at Idaso Town, Ibeju Lekki at about 22:30 hours of 20th September, 2021.
Upon arrival of the victim’s mother, she reported the case at the police station, the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, CSP, Adekunle Ajisebutu disclosed to the media on Sunday.
According to him, the report was lodged at the Police Station on 4th October, 2021, and detectives immediately arrested the suspect.
He added that the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation.
In his confessional statement, the suspect pleaded for mercy, blaming his shameful, immoral and criminal act on the influence of alcohol.
Meanwhile, the victim has since been taken to the hospital for medical attention and the case has been transferred to the Gender Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti for diligent investigation and prosecution on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu.
The Police boss while promising to protect every girl child and other vulnerable persons in the state, vows to prosecute paedophiles with unbridled sexual urge for minors.
