It is no longer going to be business as usual for cultists and other criminals in the State of Excellence as the Lagos State Police boss is ready to tackle the menace headlong. Specifically, the security agency is also determined to rid the state of traffic robbery and kidnapping.
Cultism to be arrested in Lagos
To achieve this, there is a clampdown that led to the arrest of suspected high ranking cultists, according to law enforcement agency in the state.
The Commissioner of Police in the Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade disclosed that the Command operatives have seven of the suspected cultists.
Suspected cultists taken into custody
Three of the cultists were said to have been taken into custody on Tuesday, while four others were arrested on Thursday respectfully.
The Commissioner of Police disclosed this feat at the state command headquarters during his interaction with Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria, CRAN, a source stated.
Police take battle to cultists dens
According to the Police boss, the seven high ranking cultists were arrested in Ikorodu area of the state in the last five days.
CP solicited for the support of CRAN members and stressed that the media personnel were part of his eyes and ears in getting feedback and other information.
He also said he is partnering with the judiciary in a bid to ensure that criminals were kept away for a long time.
Fayoade said he will be transparent in his operations, stressing that no officer will be cover-up for any wrong doing.
The Police boss said he will ensure that his officers and men of the Command will carry out their duties professionally, requesting members of the public to give him information on any unprofessional conduct.
The Police boss called on all Divisional Police Officers to ensure they make their stations conducive for all to make report or complaint when necessary.
On commercial motorcyclists, the CP said there will be strict enforcement than before, stressing that some of them were part of the security challenges in the State.
The police boss warned his men and officers against land issues, as it was a civil matter, noting, however, that those that want to cause trouble through land matter will be dealt with.
