The Nigeria Police Force, NPF, has successfully repatriated a wanted Chinese gang leader, Mr. Dai Qisheng, to the People’s Republic of China.
This action was executed through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau, NCB, Abuja, in collaboration with INTERPOL NCB Beijing and the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria.

Dai Qisheng, a notorious figure wanted in Guizhou Province, China, had been on the run since 2024 after a warrant was issued by the Public Security Bureau of Zhijin County.
He was accused of orchestrating and leading violent organised crimes, evading Chinese law enforcement by fleeing to Nigeria.
After months of surveillance and intelligence operations, INTERPOL NCB Abuja operatives apprehended Dai Qisheng in Abuja on August 8, 2025.
He was subsequently repatriated to Beijing on August 15, 2025, under the established framework of Police-to-Police cooperation facilitated by INTERPOL.
Wanted Chinese Gang Leader: Operation highlights Nigeria’s stronger policing ties
This operation reinforces the Nigeria Police Force’s resolve to ensure that fugitives find no safe haven within its borders. The repatriation of Dai Qisheng marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s global law enforcement collaboration, particularly in the fight against transnational crime.

According to a statement released by DCP Muyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, the seamless coordination between Nigerian and Chinese authorities is a testament to the effectiveness of international cooperation in dismantling criminal networks that span continents.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, lauded the operation, saying:
“This operation sends a clear message to criminals worldwide that the Federal Republic of Nigeria will not serve as a sanctuary for fugitives. We remain committed to leveraging intelligence-sharing and operational collaborations to ensure that borders never become barriers to justice.”
This mission is among a growing list of high-profile operations positioning Nigeria as a strategic player in global security alliances.
The arrest and repatriation of the Chinese gang leader also emphasise Nigeria’s determination to combat transnational organised crime through enhanced intelligence, bilateral agreements, and INTERPOL-led initiatives. By strengthening its international policing ties, Nigeria continues to bridge the gap in the global fight against fugitives exploiting weak border controls to evade justice.
The Nigeria Police Force has called on citizens and residents to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with credible intelligence that aids in the apprehension of fugitives and the disruption of organised criminal networks.
As the global nature of crime intensifies, Nigeria’s proactive stance, exemplified by the Dai Qisheng case, serves as a deterrent to other criminals seeking refuge in the country.
