The Ogun State Police Command has announced the appointment of DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi as the new Police Public Relations Officer, PRO, following the recent transfer of officers of the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police.

The appointment of DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi was approved by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

He succeeds CSP Omolola Odutola, who has been transferred to the Lagos State Police Command for higher national assignments after a tenure widely acknowledged for professionalism, transparency, and human-friendly policing at the Ogun State Police Command.

    Appointment and Transition

The Ogun State Police Command said the emergence of DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi aligns with the Force’s ongoing efforts to strengthen strategic communication and public engagement.

CSP Omolola Odutola, was commended for sustaining effective police–community relations and setting a solid foundation for her successor before her redeployment to Lagos State.

With the appointment of the new PRO, the Ogun State Police Command expressed confidence in a smooth transition and continuity in information management and public accountability.

    Professional and academic background

DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi is a Barrister-at-Law and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He earned a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, and holds a Diploma in Law from Osun State University.

A member of the 1st Regular Course of the Nigeria Police Academy, his training covers police operations, investigations, administration, and strategic communication—skills considered vital to the role of PRO at the Ogun State Police Command.

Operational experience and public relations expertise

Over the years, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi has served in multiple operational, investigative, and administrative capacities. He was Divisional Crime Officer at Monatan and Kajorepo Divisions, Officer-in-Charge of Ilaji and Lagelu Police Posts in Oyo State, and Unit Commander with the Police Mobile Force (22 PMF) for three years.

In 2023, he underwent specialised training at the Nigeria Army School of Special Forces, Buni Yadi, and later led personnel in joint military operations under Operation Hadin Kai across Yobe and Borno States.

His public relations credentials include serving as Deputy Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police Command, and Secretary to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, roles that strengthened his media relations and command management experience before his posting to the Ogun State Police Command.

DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi is married with children and can be contacted on 08162382281.

In assuming office, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi is expected to build on the legacy of his predecessor and further enhance transparent communication between the Ogun State Police Command and the public, reinforcing trust and accountability in line with the vision of the Nigeria Police Force.
