The Lagos Police has arrested and detained a 20-year-old social media influencer, Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, following a viral video showing him driving recklessly during a live stream that resulted in a road crash.


This information was communicated in a press statement by SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Lagos Police Command Public Relations Office on Tuesday.
The Command said the incident, which occurred on Sunday, December 14, 2025, endangered the life of the suspect and other road users, describing the act as a deliberate attempt to commit suicide and a grave threat to public safety.
According to the police, the viral footage showed Peller engaging in dangerous driving while streaming on social media, leading to a major accident that could have claimed multiple lives.
The statement noted that the suspect has been taken into custody for further investigation, adding that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID.
“The outcome of the investigation will be made public, and the suspect will be charged to a court of competent jurisdiction in accordance with the law,” the Command said.
Lagos Police boss warns public
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Jimoh Moshood, issued a strong warning to social media influencers, content creators, and members of the public against using online platforms to promote or engage in reckless, unlawful, or criminal acts.
He stressed that such actions, which are capable of causing untimely death or breaching public peace, will not be tolerated, warning that offenders will face the full weight of the law.
The Lagos State Police Command also urged all road users to strictly comply with traffic regulations, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining public peace and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
