    AAC Consulting Limited

The verdict was delivered on Friday by Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos.

    Trial history

The company was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on January 12, 2026, on an amended one-count charge bordering on stealing, contrary to Section 285(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. 44, Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

The case began on June 5, 2023, when the Managing Director, Anthony Adeoye and his company, AAC Consulting Limited were arraigned before the court on a 50-count charge bordering on stealing and issuance of dud cheques.

The defendants pleaded not guilty, leading to the trial.

During the trial counsel to the prosecution Oluwatinuke Daramola called two witnesses who testified and tendered several documents, which were admitted in evidence and marked as exhibits by the court.

    Guilty plea after full repayment

Thereafter, upon the repayment of the full sum to the petitioner in December 2023, the defendants changed their plea from “not guilty” to “guilty.”

Subsequently, the EFCC amended the charge, and the company pleaded guilty to the one-count charge of stealing.

The charge reads: “That AAC Consulting Limited, on or about 27th April 2013, at Lagos, within the Ikeja Judicial Division, dishonestly converted to its own use the aggregate sum of ₦30,564,635.81 (Thirty Million, Five Hundred and Sixty-Four Thousand, Six Hundred and Thirty-Five Naira, Eighty-One Kobo), property of contract staff of Chevron Nigeria Limited.”

Delivering the judgement, Justice Oshodi found the company guilty after decade long delay to pay the money back to the petitioner and convicted it accordingly.

Therefore the court ordered, AAC Consulting Limited to pay a fine of ₦5 million within 14 days.

Court orders ₦5m fine, issues warning

Justice Oshodi ruled that failure to pay the fine within the stipulated period would result in the winding up of the company.
