The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that 29 suspects arrested during the “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe” crackdown have been charged to court and remanded in correctional custody.

The Command disclosed that the suspects were among the 146 earlier arrested in Sagamu, but were found culpable after a thorough screening process.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said they were arraigned on April 15, 2026, and the court subsequently ordered their remand, with the case adjourned until May 12, 2026.
The Command Spokesperson said the development reflects the Command’s commitment to transparency and due process in handling security operations across the state.
He stated that the screening exercise ensured that only those directly culpable were charged, while others were cleared.

The operation, conducted under the ongoing “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe,” had targeted criminal flashpoints within the area following recent disturbances linked to unlawful gatherings and public disorder.
The Command reassured residents that Sagamu remains calm and under control, noting that proactive policing measures and sustained intelligence-driven operations have continued to yield positive results.
Residents were, however, urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious activities, as efforts to maintain peace and security in Sagamu and its environs continue.
The latest prosecution and remand of suspects further reinforce the police’s resolve to uphold law and order while ensuring that justice is served through lawful and transparent processes.
