    Justice Josephine Oyefeso Dies At 65, Lagos Judiciary Mourns

    The Lagos State Judiciary has announced the death of Justice Josephine Oyefeso, who died on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the age of 65.

    In a statement released, the judiciary described her demise as a painful loss, noting that Justice Josephine Efunkumbi Oyefeso served with “exceptional dedication, integrity and unwavering commitment to the administration of justice.”

    According to the information communicated on Thursday, noted that throughout her career on the bench, she was widely regarded for her diligence, fairness and deep sense of responsibility in adjudicating cases, contributing significantly to the development of the legal system in Lagos State.

    The statement, issued on behalf of the Lagos State Chief Judge, judges, magistrates and the entire staff of the judiciary, expressed profound grief over her passing and extended condolences to her family, colleagues and associates.

    “Hon. Justice Oyefeso served the Judiciary with exceptional dedication, integrity and unwavering commitment to the administration of justice,” the statement read.

    Her death marks the end of a distinguished judicial career that spanned several years, during which she earned the respect of members of the Bar and Bench alike.

    Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family.
