Fred Ajudua’s trial for alleged fraud continued on Friday with the cross examination of the third prosecution witness, Afanda Bashir Emmanuel.
Emmanuel, an investigator with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has been testifying before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court, Ikeja.

This is as the Defence Counsel to the alleged fraudster Ajudua informed the judge that his client had withdrawn its application at the Supreme Court, and it has been struck out clearing the way for the trial court to determine the pending bail application.
Ajudua is alleged of defrauding a Palestinian businessman, Zad Abu Zalaf of $1,043,000 under false pretences.
At the resumption of hearing, Mr. Olalekan Ojo informed the court about the ruling by the Supreme Court on a motion for bail filed by Ajudua.
Ajudua is facing trial for allegedly obtaining $1,043,000 (One Million, Forty-Three Thousand Dollars) from Abu Zalaf under false pretences.
Produce records of Fred Ajudua’s investigation
Ajudua’s case began in 2005 before Justice M.O. Obadina of the Lagos State High Court, but had suffered repeated delays as the defendant reportedly employed several legal technicalities to stall proceedings.
The matter has since been reassigned multiple times, first to Justice Josephine Oyefeso and later to Justice Mojisola Dada, before whom Ajudua was re-arraigned on June 4, 2018.
The prosecution witness testified that he had inherited the case and was not part of the initial investigation, when he was questioned about the existence of a police investigation diary.
Justice Dada directed the prosecution to produce the records at next adjourned date.
Subsequently, the judge adjourned the case till November 20 and 21, 2025, for continuation of the cross-examination.
