The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 30 suspected cultists and recovered four vehicles during a raid on an alleged cult initiation procession in Isara-Remo, in what authorities described as a major crackdown on cult-related activities in the state.

The operation was carried out on June 16, 2026 led by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU, in collaboration with detectives from the Isara Area Command and Isara Division following credible intelligence about a gathering of suspected cult members.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi in a statement stated that intelligence reports indicated that a group of suspected hoodlums had assembled in an uncompleted building in Isara-Remo for what investigators described as an unlawful gathering involving meetings, chanting, alcohol consumption, and attempts to initiate new members into a cult group.

The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
The police said they would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects who escaped during the operation.
Commending the officers involved, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, described the operation as evidence of the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and its zero-tolerance stance on cultism and violent crime.
He urged individuals involved in cult activities to renounce cultism and criminality, warning that the command would continue to intensify efforts to dismantle criminal networks across the state.
The commissioner also called on residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious gatherings and criminal activities to security agencies, assuring the public that the command remains committed to maintaining law and order throughout Ogun State.
