The Ekiti State Government on Thursday evening said the latest case of Coronavirus in the state has died from complications. In an update posted on the state government’s accounts on the social media, the latest case was a 75-year-old female whose sample was sent to Natonal Centre for Disease Control, NCDC laboratory earlier. Yinusa Dahiru who abducted the 14-year-old girl, Ese Oruru in August 2015 from Bayelsa State and took her to Kano State where she was forced into a marriage with him has bagged 26 years prison term. Justice Jane Inyang of the Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State delivered the long-awaited judgement on Thursday. Justice Inyang acquitted Dahiru on count one but jailed him five years on count two, seven years on count three, seven years on count four and seven years on count five. The sentences, according to the judge would run concurrently.

An internet fraudster, Lawal Sholaru has been sentenced to six months imprisonment for defrauding an American, Mr. David Geobel, of $1,200 in an online scam. Sholaru was convicted by an Ikeja Special Offences Court on Wednesday in a judgement delivered via a virtual proceeding with an option of N100,000 fine for defrauding Geobel. Sholaru was dragged to court on March 18 and had pleaded guilty.
