Nigeria has launched its first-ever National Household Survey on Climate Change, a landmark initiative designed to strengthen climate governance and provide evidence-based insights into how climate change affects households across the country. Wema Bank Plc has dismissed allegations contained in recent publications by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, NDIC, concerning the sale of Banana Island properties allegedly linked to the defunct Gulf Bank Plc, describing the claims as false, misleading and malicious. In a statement released by the bank, Wema Bank said the controversy stemmed from an inter-bank placement of ₦4.6 billion made to Gulf Bank in 2002. Panic swept across schools in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, on Thursday after a suspected chemical odour reportedly affected over 90 students, forcing parents and emergency responders to evacuate over a thousand pupils from different schools for urgent medical attention.
